Amount to little

Cliftonville Ladies 0-0 Peamount United

The spoils were shared at Solitude today as Cliftonville Ladies and Peamount United completed their All-Island Cup Group C commitments with a goalless draw.

Vicky Carleton was first to threaten a breakthrough for the Reds but, after her effort was easily gathered by visiting goalkeeper Amanda Budden, she saw a later shot charged down by a defender.

Just before the interval, Naomi McLaughlin almost converted following Marissa Callaghan’s free-kick delivery, while the second period began with Carleton sending an attempt over the top.

On 67 minutes, a fine save from Rachael Norney saw Ellen Dolan’s strike turned against the post and the Reds were again grateful to their keeper for denying Mary Phillips in the closing stages.

Peamount then hit the post directly from a corner delivery and, though neither side could fine a late winner, the draw was enough to rubberstamp the visitors’ progress to the knockout stages.
