Extra tough to take
Cliftonville Ladies 0-2 Sion Swifts Ladies
Two goals in extra-time left Cliftonville nursing Jordan’s Gift Women’s Premiership League Cup Final heartache at Blanchflower Stadium this evening.
With the regulation 90 minutes failing to divide the sides, Sion Swifts took the lead during the opening exchanges of overtime when Cora Chambers – who had sent a penalty kick against the post earlier in the night – confidently lifting the ball over Rachael Norney.
The young Reds side, forced to contend without a host of international players due to their imminent involvement at Euro 2022, battled gamely in search of a leveller but were undone right at the finish when Chambers’ close range finish ensured the trophy was bound for Strabane.
