Mor in the tank

Two Michael Morgan goals helped Cliftonville Olympic claim victory over Carrick Rangers Reserves in an entertaining Steel & Sons Cup second round tie at Solitude this afternoon.

Initially on the scoresheet courtesy of an own goal, Marc Smyth’s side found themselves 2-1 down before Morgan struck to force extra-time, during which he netted again to send the Olympic – who begin their defence of the Premiership Development League title against Carrick next Saturday – through to round three.

In the Under-18 Academy League, meanwhile, Cliftonville Strollers enjoyed a 5-2 win over their Gers counterparts on Friday night, with the Under-16s winning 4-1 today and Cliftonville Corinthians claiming a 6-4 victory in their Women’s Academy League encounter with Linfield Ladies Swifts.
