Late Call

A last-gasp Marissa Callaghan goal earned Cliftonville Ladies a battling draw with title-chasing Glentoran Women in this evening’s Danske Bank Women’s Premiership match.

In a keenly-contested encounter at Ulidia Playing Fields, Niamh Connolly almost gave the Reds an early lead before Leah McEvoy drew a save from the home keeper.

The deadlock was broken at the other end, though, when Rachel Rogan’s 35th minute shot was turned into her own net by the unfortunate Hollie Mailey.

After the break, McEvoy saw another chance come and go but, with the clock ticking down towards a narrow defeat for Cliftonville, it was Callaghan who struck right at the end to ensure a share of the spoils.
