Caitlin’s tricky finish

Cliftonville Ladies 4-1 Glentoran Women

Caitlin McGuinness rattled in a hat-trick as Cliftonville Ladies signed off from the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership season with a stylish victory over Glentoran Women at Solitude this evening.

Already assured of their third title in five seasons before kick-off, the Champions took a 50th minute lead when Teegan Lynch found the net from Kirsty McGuinness’ cross.

The Reds’ advantage didn’t last long, however, and Mia Moore quickly drew the Glens level before Caitlin McGuinness assumed centre stage.

She made it 2-1 when a left-footed effort found the corner of the net from a tight angle and then, eight minutes from time, provided the finish to Louise McDaniel’s lay-off before securing her treble when she seized on Lucy Kelly’s pass and found the net with an injury-time strike that got Solitude well and truly into the party spirit even before the presentation of the Premiership trophy.
