Lynchpin lauded

Congratulations to Teegan Lynch, who has been named August’s Sports Direct Women’s Premiership Player of the Month by the NI Football Writers’ Association.

The 23-year-old midfielder scored six goals during the period as the Reds reached the semi-finals of the Irish Cup and extended their advantage at the top of the table to eight points.

“We had a great month but no one is getting carried away,” said Lynch, who will be part of the squad that travels to Brandywell Stadium for tomorrow night’s Premiership clash with Derry City.

“There’s no major gaps between top and bottom any more. Every game, you’re in for a game.

“It’s brilliant that the League’s developing, but it means you’re in a battle every week.

“And we’re in a fantastic position to win the League, which would mean everything to us after last year’s disappointment. But we’re not getting ahead of ourselves, particularly with the split games to come.”
