Further strings to our Boh

As part of his his ongoing project to bolster the Club’s archives, Cliftonville’s Heritage Development Officer, Paul Treanor, extends thanks to Helen Byrne for some recent gifts.

Helen is the granddaughter of former Bohemians President Liam Rapple and got in touch to very kindly donate an almost complete set of Cliftonville Members Tickets from 1946/47 through to the 1970/71 season.

As fellow footballing pioneers, the Reds and Bohs enjoyed a close relationship for many decades and the Club used to provide the Dublin outfit with an Honorary Members Ticket on an annual basis. These having now been returned to Cliftonville’s possession, Paul was alerted to the fact that, prior to 1980, the Club holds almost no copies of old Members Tickets or Season Tickets.

We own one from 1900 and another from 1923 alongside digital images of six pre-1900, with the earliest being from the 1889/90 campaign.

If any supporters have any old tickets or know someone who has, Paul would be delighted if they could make contact. Be they donations or the loan of tickets to obtain digital copies, the Club is particularly keen on examples from seasons up to and including 1945/46, 1967-1969 and between 1971-1979.
