Gunning for victory

Jim Magilton says Cliftonville must come out “all guns blazing” against Carrick Rangers this evening.

Frustrated to have twice conceded leads en route to a home draw with Portadown at the weekend, Magilton has called on his players to atone for that setback by producing a better account of themselves tonight.

“It’s a massive game for us and we have to come out all guns blazing,” he insists.

“They’re all Cup Finals, including the Cup Final, and that’s the way we have to look at it.

“Sunday was a huge game for us and I emphasised that but, throughout the course of the game, I don’t think I was ever comfortable but when we scored the second goal, I felt we would go on and win it. The fact that we haven’t puts us under even more pressure going into this one.

“We know what Carrick will bring. They test your character, they test your resilience, they ask massive questions of you and you have to be able to stand up, take that and then come out and play.”
