Wood work
Cliftonville Football Club are very pleased to announce the signing of Eric McWoods.
The 29-year-old striker joins following a spell with Sandvikens in the Swedish Superettan and, subject to international clearance, will be part of Jim Magilton’s squad for Saturday’s Clearer Water Irish Cup sixth round tie with Glenavon.
After beginning his senior career with Kansan side Kaw Valley in his native United States, McWoods won the Estonian Cup with Narva Trans in 2019 prior to joining Zalaegerszeg in the Hungarian top flight.
Brief stints with Maltese Premier League side Balzan and Shabab Al-Aqaba of Jordan preceded a switch to Finn Harps in the League of Ireland Premier Division, where he proved a popular figure ahead of a move to Sandvikens in March 2023, and we trust our supporters will provide the Missouri man with a typically warm Red Army welcome following his arrival at Ireland’s Oldest Football Club.
In additional transfer news, we can also confirm the signing of Callum McCay.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who has joined from Derry City, will spend the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign on loan with Institute in the Playr-Fit Championship prior to reporting to Solitude for pre-season training with his new team-mates in the summer.
Welcome to the Reds, Eric and Callum.
