Three run
Three young Cliftonville players have been involved in international action for both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland over the past week-and-a-half.
Ryan Corrigan and Keevan Hawthorne were part of the NI Under-19 squad that travelled to Albania for three European Championship qualifiers, while Joe Sheridan was involved in the Republic’s Under-18 friendly commitments in Croatia.
After making his debut for Colin O’Brien’s side in their 2-0 defeat to Japan on November 13, Sheridan (pictured; no 15) started the 1-1 draw with Croatia last Saturday before earning his third cap in Tuesday’s reverse against Portugal.
Corrigan, meanwhile, emerged from the bench in Northern Ireland’s loss to Denmark and, though he was an unused substitute in the subsequent 3-1 defeat by Israel, Reds team-mate Hawthorne started the game at Niko Dovana Stadium.
Gareth McAuley’s side ended their trip with a 1-0 victory over hosts Albania, against whom Corrigan started with Hawthorne on the bench.
