Statistical field leaders
Cliftonville’s victory over Linfield in yesterday’s Sports Direct Premiership fixture at Windsor Park kept the Club’s Heritage Development Officer, Paul Treanor, every bit as busy as Jim Magilton’s players.
For, as he notes, the contest delivered no fewer than four statistical landmarks that have now been added to the record books and, taking things chronologically, it all started when Matthew Fitzpatrick put the Blues in front with the 3500th League goal the Reds have ever conceded away from home.
Ryan Curran’s equaliser (pictured) was, meanwhile, his 85th strike for the Club and saw him climb above Liam Boyce into ninth position in the Club’s all-time scorers list, nudging the unfortunate Frank Mortished out of the Top 10.
The game was, of course, won when Ryan Corrigan pounced on a loose ball inside the area in the closing minutes and, as well as earning all three points, that finish also represented Cliftonville’s 750th away goal in the Premiership as well as our 575th strike against Linfield.
