Wall the best
It’s a sight that Social Club patrons have long grown accustomed to, and we are today pleased to draw a wider audience’s attention to some fresh additions to our celebrated Ulster Footballer of the Year wall at Solitude.
Toasting the achievements of every Cliftonville player to have received the prestigious accolade since the inaugural presentation to Reds legend Kevin McGarry in 1951, the wall recently welcomed both Caitlin McGuinness and Marissa Callaghan to its list of Solitude icons.
Following on from McGarry, Bobby Carlisle (1984), Marty Tabb (1998), Chris Scannell (2009), Liam Boyce (2013), Liam Boyce (2014) and Billie Simpson (2019), both McGuinness and Callaghan have landed the honour in each of the last two years – and, given the Reds’ recent Sports Direct Women’s Premiership title triumph, a Cliftonville hat-trick could well merit another face adorning the panel before too long.
