Duo are on point

Sean Stewart started the game and Shea Kearney made his Northern Ireland Under-21 debut in this evening’s goalless draw with England.

The European Championship qualifying tie, which was played at Ballymena Showgrounds, saw the hosts claimed their seventh point from as many Group F outings to leave defending Euro Champions England facing a fight for top spot having fallen behind new leaders Ukraine.

Stewart played the first 84 minutes of the match before being replaced by Glentoran’s Johnny Russell at the same time as Kearney was introduced for Portsmouth midfielder Terry Devlin.

Both Cliftonville players will also be part of the Northern Ireland squad for Tuesday’s Showgrounds encounter with the Ukrainians, which gets under way at 7.45pm.
