Hale of a gesture
One hundred young Cliftonville fans attended last night’s County Antrim Shield quarter-final victory over Glentoran for absolutely free thanks to a wonderful gesture led by Reds captain Rory Hale.
With admission set at just £1 for supporters aged under 12, Hale donated £100 to the gate receipts in recognition of the backing the team have received during a recent challenging period – meaning the first century of youngsters who approached the turnstiles didn’t need to part with even a penny.
In acknowledging this superb token of appreciation, all at the Club place on record our sincere thanks to the skipper for overseeing such a courtesy and we are delighted that, in addition to enjoying free admission, so many of our youngest fans contributed to an electric atmosphere throughout a gripping win under the Solitude lights.
