Put to good Youth
History will be made in Nyon tomorrow when Cliftonville Strollers learn the identity of their first ever European opponents.
The Wee Reds, who won the NIFL Academy League Under-18 title last term, will take part in this season’s UEFA Youth League, which will get under way later this month.
With two wins from two so far this season, the Strollers – whose 4-0 victory over Ballymena United on Friday came off the back of a 6-0 defeat of Newry City on the opening night – will be part of the Domestic Champions Path draw in Switzerland.
Separate from the Champions League path, which replicates the senior competition, Cliftonville’s young guns will join 30 fellow debutants in a 52-team process that will see them handed first round ties scheduled to take place on September 18 and October 2.
