Cup to the job!
Cliftonville Ladies 2-0 Lisburn Rangers
Cliftonville Ladies retained the VBet Women’s League Cup with a 2-0 victory over Lisburn Rangers Ladies in this afternoon’s Final at Blanchflower Park.
The Reds – who had suffered contrasting fortunes against Sion Swifts in the competition’s last two deciders – ensured the silverware will be staying at Solitude courtesy of Kirsty McGuinness’ opener and a last-gasp clincher from Vicky Carleton.
Watched by a record-breaking crowd of 1,102, John McGrady’s side pulled ahead when McGuinness was on hand to finish off an assist from younger sister Caitlin on 11 minutes and then, with the contest deep in injury-time, substitute Marissa Callaghan teed up Carleton, whose low strike found the bottom corner.
