Cliftonville Ladies 8-1 Larne Women

Kirsty McGuinness celebrated a hat-trick as Cliftonville Ladies returned to the top of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership with a comprehensive victory over Larne Women at Solitude this afternoon.

Fi Morgan opened the scoring with just three minutes on the clock and, though Maddie Brunt marked her debut by nodding the visitors level soon later, it wasn’t long before McGuinness’ long-range effort had restored Cliftonville’s lead.

Younger sister Caitlin McGuinness then celebrated a double to make it 4-1 before the first-half ended with Kirsty scoring the Reds’ fifth, while the second period was just five minutes old by the time Danielle Maxwell added her own name to the scoresheet.

McGuinness completed her treble just after the hour when she converted from Abbie Magee’s pass ahead of Carla Devine completing the scoring with 10 minutes left on the clock.
