Rran and shine

Orann Donnelly is relishing every second of his exposure to senior football – and anticipates an electric atmosphere when Cliftonville host Linfield this evening.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper has been on the bench for each of the Reds’ last four matches and says the belief that Jim Magilton and his backroom staff have in him is having a positive impact on his development.

“It’s super to be involved in the senior set-up and being ready to come in,” says Donnelly, who signed his first professional contract with the Club earlier this year.

“It’s nice to know that you are trusted to sit on the bench. On any moment, I could be called upon to play. I know that the Manager and the goalkeeper department are happy for me to step in whenever they need me. The confidence in me, I’m delighted with that and the experience of being around a first team changing room – it just amps up your maturity.”

On tonight’s Sports Direct Premiership clash, he adds: “Friday nights under the lights – you can’t beat them. They are always amazing atmospheres.”

You can read the full Donnelly interview in tonight’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £3.

Carrying Jim Magilton’s pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, The Red Eye’s seventh issue of the campaign looks back on the Blues’ season so far as well as providing your latest player poster – plus plenty more besides.

With all home end tickets for this evening’s match having been sold, supporters are encouraged to take their seats as early as possible to avoid congestion at the turnstiles in the countdown to kick-off.
