In for the Kel

Kelsie Burrows says Cliftonville Ladies are fully aware that they didn’t do themselves justice in the last North Belfast Derby and are determined to put it right in this evening’s County Antrim Cup Final.

The Reds face Crusaders Strikers at Blanchflower Stadium for the right to parade the first domestic silverware of the season just a month after being beaten 3-1 at Seaview and, having lost out to Galway United in the Avenir Sports All-Island Cup decider eight days ago, Burrows was buoyed by the performance in Friday night’s 7-2 defeat of Linfield.

“It was important for us as a team to play well and get a good win after the defeat to Galway to build our confidence back up on the pitch again,” she explains.

“We know Crusaders well and have done our analysis. In the last game, we didn’t play anywhere near our best and that showed, but everyone is prepared and ready for a tough game.”

This evening’s tie comes just 72 hours after that Challenge Cup victory over the Blues and, acknowledging that a hectic schedule is a byproduct of a successful team, Burrows adds: “It can be a positive and a negative but we are all as prepared as we can be.

“We’ll continue to give our best team performance and hopefully come out on top.”
