After Rory Hale had opened the scoring, a last-minute leveller from Jamie McDonagh eventually sent the Reds’ Irish Cup sixth round tie with Coleraine to penalties, where Nathan Gartside’s heroics set up this week’s quarter-final showdown with Dungannon Swifts.

Though a narrow reverse against Linfield followed, Ronan Hale efforts either side of a header from Jonny Addis earned full points against Portadown at Solitude, while Addis was also on target as the 10-man Reds were edged out by Larne at Inver Park.

The month then ended with Saturday’s vital 2-1 win over Glentoran, which saw Sean Moore rattle in two first-half strikes to reward a fine team display.
