Marissa doubles up

Congratulations to Cliftonville Ladies midfielder Marissa Callaghan, who has been named the season’s final Danske Bank Women’s Player of the Month by the NI Football Writers’ Association.

The 37-year-old – whose accolade encompasses both October and November – registered vital goals against Cliftonville Ladies and Crusaders Strikers as the Reds celebrated their first ever title success.

“I’m delighted to win this award, but you can’t win it without the players around you,” said Callaghan.

“We have a young team at Cliftonville and I’m so proud of them for all we achieved by winning our first League this season.

“It gives me confidence that I can continue to play at 37 and, as long as my body allows and I’m selected for Club and country, I’ll continue to play.”
