City slicker
Odhrán Casey is grateful for the opportunities afforded to him by Newry City last season.
Ahead of Cliftonville’s League Cup quarter-final battle with Darren Mullen’s side at Solitude this evening, Casey – who helped The Showgrounds outfit win the Lough 41 Championship – says the benefit of that experience is fuelling belief in his abilities as a senior Irish League player.
“I loved it last year and was getting game time every week,” says the 20-year-old.
“I was happy that they wanted me. I went down and we won the League. They were already doing well, but I think I went down and proved I can play at this level. It went well and I loved the experience with Newry.”
You can read the full Casey interview in tonight’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £3.
Carrying pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, The Red Eye’s 10th issue of the campaign examines City’s Premiership credentials and steps 143, 42 and 28 years down memory lane – plus plenty more besides.
