The Col of duty

Colin Coates expects an entertaining affair when Cliftonville host Dungannon Swifts tomorrow and believes both teams’ hunger for victory will add to the occasion.

The Reds are bidding to back up wins over Carrick Rangers and Ballymena United with another positive outcome this weekend but Coates acknowledges that, without a Danske Bank Premiership point to their name thus far, the visitors will not be short on motivation of their own.

“No matter who you play in this League, it’s always a difficult game,” he explains.

“Dungannon haven’t had the ideal start and they’ll be wanting to pick points up.

“They’re a team that like to get the ball down and play football – the pitch will suit them. It will be a football game between two teams that want to play football.”

You can read the full Coates interview in tomorrow’s edition of our Matchday Magazine, which will be on sale at Solitude for £3.

Carrying pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, The Red Eye’s third issue of the campaign also reflects on the Swifts’ early form alongside the latest installments of some brand new features.

Our Matchday Magazine attained a top-three position in the NI Football Programme Collectors’ last eight annual awards polls – assuming the runners-up position on six of those occasions – so, if you’re not a regular reader, why not take a look at what you’ve been missing out on?
