Supporting cast

Cliftonville Football Club adds our own thanks to the compliments expressed by DAC, UEFA and the Slovakian authorities for the support generated by the Red Army over the course of our Europa Conference League first qualifying round tie.

Our fans travelled in numbers to last week’s first leg in Dunajska Streda and, as well as contributing to a wonderful atmosphere at MOL Arena, made a typically positive impression on the streets of Bratislava before and after the match – as a sequence of social media videos have demonstrated in the time since.

Your support at last night’s return meeting at Solitude was likewise appreciated by Paddy McLaughlin and the players, while our opponents were grateful for the warm reception and congratulations they received following their 5-1 aggregate success.

UEFA delegates at both fixtures acknowledged the passionate – and typically good humoured – backing offered up by our fans, whose exemplary behaviour in Slovakia earned the praise of the match security team at the stadium.

In echoing those sentiments, the Club places on record our sincere thanks to everyone who assisted in the staging of last night’s second leg. The help that was provided both in the build-up and during the match itself was invaluable and Cliftonville FC are grateful for the continued dedicated service of the volunteers who contribute so much every season.
