Aus-ome feat

Five Cliftonville players featured in Northern Ireland Women’s Euro 2022 clash with Austria this evening.

Having emerged as substitutes in last week’s Group A opener against Norway, captain Marissa Callaghan (pictured) and Kirsty McGuinness assumed starting berths on this occasion, with Reds team-mates Abbie Magee and Kelsie Burrows dropping to the bench.

Magee was, however, introduced on 73 minutes before Louise McDaniel – the only Cliftonville representative in the squad who had yet to experience game-time in the tournament – and Caitlin McGuinness entered the fray at St Mary’s Stadium, where goals from Katharina Schiechtl and Katharina Naschenweng earned Austria a 2-0 victory.
