Clif toppers

History was made last night when Cliftonville were represented at a senior international tournament for the very first time.

Five Reds stars were part of the Northern Ireland Women’s side that faced Norway in a European Championship fixture at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton where, by virtue of being named in the starting XI, Kelsie Burrows and Abbie Magee (pictured) share the distinction of being the first Cliftonville players to have featured on such a stage.

International skipper Marissa Callaghan was introduced from the bench at half-time before fellow substitutes Kirsty and Caitlin McGuinness entered the fray in a contest that saw Kenny Shiels’ side defeated 4-1.

Congratulations are extended to all of the Reds’ milestone makers as attentions swiftly turn to Northern Ireland’s next Group A outing against Austria on Monday.
