Let’s remain top class: McGuinness

Caitlin McGuinness says there’s no time for Cliftonville Ladies to take their foot off the gas as the Reds target perfection in the opening phase of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership.

The League takes a two-month break following tonight’s seventh round of fixtures, with table-topping Cliftonville aiming to sign off on a winning note before the European Championships by getting the better of Linfield Ladies this evening.

While confidence in the camp is high, McGuinness insists the threat posed by her former Club at Midgley Park is not to be taken lightly – especially as the Blues put a huge dent in their title ambitions last year.

“It’s very important as we can’t afford to drop any points this season as every team is strong and the League is going to run right to the end of the season,” she explains.

“We don’t under-estimate any team. We drew with them near the end of last season and we know how good they can be so we want to make sure we are on top of our game.”
