Declan O’Hara toasted victory in Cliftonville’s “biggest game of the season” as goals from Paul O’Neill and Joe Gormley earned full points against Glenavon yesterday.

In both blustery and blinding conditions at Mourneview Park, finishes in either half maintained the Reds’ fine form, much to the Assistant Manager’s obvious delight.

“A good performance at a hard place to come to,” was O’Hara’s summary.

“The sun was shining but it was very windy – a game of two halves.

“This was the biggest game of the season. You come down here, win 2-0, take the three points and we’re happy where we are.”

Cliftonville named an altered starting XI for the first time in eight matches, with League Cup Final heroes O’Neill and Gormley among the new introductions and O’Hara was pleased to see them continue their scoring form.

“Last Sunday, they came on and scored the two goals so they deserved to start,” he added.

“Credit to them both, they had to wait and it’s like the rest of the squad – some are not even making the squad at the minute so credit to them too, we have asked them to do the job and they did it.

“It’s all about three points, we got them and it’s another clean sheet, I think that’s 18 for the the season and we are just building on that. It’s one game at a time.”
