Ladies’ Cup heartache
Cliftonville Ladies 1-2 Glentoran Women
Cliftonville Ladies suffered an agonising defeat to Glentoran Women in tonight’s Electric Ireland Women’s Challenge Cup semi-final at Bangor Fuels Arena.
Ahead through Kirsty McGuinness, the Reds were pegged back before half-time when former Cliftonville favourite Emma McMaster nodded in an equaliser.
After Ashleigh McKinnon saved a McGuinness penalty, the Glens took the lead courtesy of Lauren Wade and, despite pushing hard for a leveller – specifically a well-struck effort from Marissa Callaghan – John McGrady’s side were unable to find the goal that would force extra-time.
