Cliftonville Ladies 12-0 Derry City Women

Cliftonville Ladies stormed back to the top of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership with a ruthless 12-goal defeat of Derry City Women at Solitude this evening.

Kirsty McGuinness bagged five goals and Marissa Callaghan claimed four in a sensational team display that also included strikes from Louise McDaniel, Rachel McConnell and Shona Davis.

Trailing table-toppers Glentoran by a point going into tonight, the Reds took full advantage of their remaining game in hand to leapfrog their east Belfast rivals with just five rounds of fixtures left to be contested.

Callaghan opened the scoring on 13 minutes and doubled Cliftonville’s lead on 27, with McGuinness opening her personal account just 60 seconds later.

McDaniel claimed the fourth and Callaghan sealed her hat-trick before McGuinness completed the first-half scoring by making it 6-0.

She would wrap up her own treble just after the turnaround and, after McConnell and Davis had got in on the act, McGuinness took the hosts into double figures with her fourth of the night.

Callaghan then joined her international team-mate in the quardruple stakes late on, only for McGuinness to go one better by netting for a fifth time with the final goal of the night.
