Cliftonville Ladies 4-1 Crusaders Strikers

Cliftonville Ladies showed their hunger for a title fight by roaring from behind to see off Crusaders Strikers in this afternoon’s North Belfast Derby at Solitude.

The first of two games in hand the Reds hold over Danske Bank Women’s Premiership leaders Glentoran Women got off to a terrible start when Amy McGivern put the Crues ahead with just two minutes on the clock.

That was enough to earn the visitors a half-time lead, but Cliftonville produced a magnificent second-half display to hit back through goals from the McGuinness sisters – Kirsty and Caitlin – as well as Marissa Callaghan and Louise McDaniel to narrow the gap at the top of the table to one point ahead of Wednesday’s home game with Derry City Women.

Cliftonville: Norney, White, Burrows, Moran, Morgan, McKimm (Weatherall, 76 mins), McDaniel, C McGuinness, K McGuinness, Davis, Callaghan. Unused subs: Welsh, Reilly, McConnell, McHenry.
