At a loss

Glentoran Women 4-1 Cliftonville Ladies

Cliftonville Ladies slipped to their first defeat of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership seasons as Champions Glentoran took full points at Ashfield Boys School this evening.

The Glens – whose only previous loss had been against the Reds in the reverse fixture at Solitude – were three goals up at the break; Lauren Wade netting either side of a Kerry Beattie penalty.

Though Marissa Callaghan would pull one back for the visitors after the break, it was not enough to spark a comeback as Glentoran completed the victory that took them above Cliftonville at the top of the table thanks to Beattie’s second of the night.
