Motion aside

Chris Curran insists that, while there is nothing riding on tomorrow’s clash with Linfield, Cliftonville can’t afford to simply “go through the motions” with a European Play-Off semi-final just days away.

The Reds conclude their Danske Bank Premiership programme by welcoming the Blues to Solitude before shifting their focus to Tuesday’s vital encounter with Crusaders.

While captain Curran acknowledges that the forthcoming North Belfast Derby duel is of greater significance, he has warned his team-mates against taking their eyes off the ball.

“You can’t just turn form and attitude on and off like a tap,” he explains.

“The Crues game is obviously a massive one but to give ourselves the best chance in that, we have to go out and put in a performance against Linfield. You can’t just go through the motions and hope to get a match out of the road – it’s one we want to win.”

You can read the full Curran interview in tomorrow’s digital edition of The Red Eye, which will be available here on cliftonvillefc.net ahead of kick-off.

Featuring pre-match views from the Manager’s Office, our Matchday Magazine’s 25th issue of the campaign carries all the stats behind the Reds’ recent form and a look back on the Blues’ route to title success – plus plenty more besides.
