Cliftonville duo Megan Weatherall and Rachel McConnell helped Northern Ireland Women’s Futsal team make history with Thursday’s defeat of Lithuania.
The 1-0 victory – which was the second of three European Championship qualifiers played in Jonava – was the team’s first ever competitive win and came courtesy of an Olivia Brown goal following an assist from Reds defender Weatherall.
Both Weatherall (pictured) and McConnell went close to finding the net either side of that strike and the Cliftonville pair were also involved in last Wednesday’s 4-1 loss to Serbia and yesterday’s 8-0 reverse against Group A winners Slovakia.
