Call together

Marissa Callaghan has today joined her Cliftonville Ladies team-mate Kirsty McGuinness in being nominated for the Audi Belfast Women’s Player of the Year Award.

In addition to her exploits with the Reds, the international skipper played a key role in Northern Ireland Women’s qualification for next year’s European Championships, scoring the crucial opening goal in the second leg of their Play-Off victory over Ukraine.

Callaghan and McGuinness – who was proposed for the accolade after scoring 11 goals in just eight games for Sion Swifts last season – are joined on the shortlist by Glentoran Women’s Caragh Hamilton and everyone at Solitude wishes the Cliftonville duo the very best of luck in advance of the winner being unveiled.
