Points of fact

Regular readers of our Matchday Magazine will know all the facts and figures behind each new week at Cliftonville Football Club, while our Twitter followers are regaled with daily delves into the archives and yesterday’s victory over Warrenpoint Town provided another notable milestone.

In what was the Reds’ 5450th competitive match, goals from Thomas Maguire, Ryan Curran and Joe Gormley sealed the 550th home League win in the Club’s history.

Curran also came close to registering Cliftonville’s landmark 700th Premiership strike at home, only for his second-half effort to strike a post and leave the team’s tally on 699 in what was the 435th time the Reds have hosted a top-flight game since the Premier League’s introduction in 1995.

The win was, meanwhile, the team’s 15th in 23 meetings with Warrenpoint, whose sole Solitude success came in an Irish Cup penalty shoot-out during the 2010/11 season.
