Cliftonville Strollers scored a comprehensive victory over Institute Under 18s in this evening’s Harry Cavan Youth Cup Final.

A 5-1 win saw the Wee Reds lift the trophy for just the second time in history, 19 years on from their only previous success in the competition.

Calvin McCurry opened the scoring ahead of Kyle Anderson doubling Cliftonville’s advantage before half-time in the behind-closed-doors encounter at Moyola Park’s Mill Meadow home.

Darren Hyland made it 3-0 after 65 minutes and, after McCurry’s second of the night extended the Strollers’ advantage further, Mark Donnelly got his name on the scoresheet to put the Reds five goals to the good.

Stute would pull one back from the penalty spot late on, but there was no stopping the Strollers from claiming an emphatic triumph to seal the silverware.
