Strolling into the Final

Cliftonville Strollers will face Institute Under 18s in the Harry Cavan Youth Cup Final after overcoming Glentoran Colts in this evening’s Semi Final at Seaview.

Just hours after the Reds’ senior side got the better of the Glens on Danske Bank Premiership duty, goals from Conor Scannell and Peter McKiernan made it a welcome double to send the Strollers through to the decider.

Trailing to a Charlie Lindsay strike a minute before half-time, Cliftonville – who enjoyed a numerical advantage when Caolan McBride was dismissed just past the hour – levelled when Scannell found the net from just inside the box.

He would, however, soon be sent off himself, leaving it 10 against 10 for the closing stages, during which Man of the Match McKiernan (pictured with Robert Doherty of the Irish FA Youth Committee) sealed the Strollers’ comeback with a well-taken finish.
