The time has long passed since anyone at Solitude was shocked by Billie Simpson’s technical ability – but the Cliftonville Ladies star may just have surpassed herself this time.

The 26-year-old began the Reds’ fightback from 2-0 down against Sion Swifts last night when she returned a goal kick back where it came from with an outrageous first-time volley from inside her own half.

It’s no surprise that the phenomenal strike, which found the net without the ball touching the ground from the moment the home goalkeeper initially launched it upfield, has already gone viral online but what admiring viewers from across the globe won’t necessarily know is that this isn’t even the first time Billie has scored from inside her own half this season!

Cliftonville Ladies return to action when they take on Portadown Ladies at Annagh United’s Tandragee Road home next Wednesday, so why not be part of the travelling support as the Reds bid to close the gap at the top of the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership and, who knows, you might just witness something extra special.
