Marissa Callaghan was the North Belfast Derby hero as Cliftonville Ladies got the better of Crusaders Strikers at Seaview this evening.
Callaghan netted twice as the Reds bounced back from the disappointment of last week’s League Cup Final defeat to Linfield Ladies to move within two points of the Crues – who have played two games more – in the Danske Bank Women’s Premiership.
After opening the scoring in the first-half, Callaghan doubled Cliftonville’s advantage shortly after the re-start and, though Crusaders pulled one back a quarter of an hour later, substitute Shannon Grattan made it 3-1 to clinch the victory that edges her side closer to second place in the standings and keeps them six points behind leaders Linfield with a game in hand.
