Fortified legends

Cliftonville Football Club are delighted to announce that the heroes of our 1979 Irish Cup triumph are the latest entrants to the John McCredy McAlery Hall of Fame.

Inducted by Chairman Gerard Lawlor at the commencement of the Club’s Awards presentations tonight, a total of 13 names were added to the reel in recognition of the 40th anniversary of their iconic victory over Portadown, which remains the Reds’ last triumph in the competition to date.

Named in honour of Cliftonville FC’s founding father, the Hall of Fame was established to celebrate and highlight the achievements of our greatest ever servants, with former Manager Jackie Hutton tonight joining his legendary Cup Final players – Walter Mills, Tony Bell, Marty Quinn, John Platt, Mike Adair, John Flanagan, Brian Johnston, Eamonn Largey, Brendan McGuckin, Peter McCusker, Ciaran McCurry and John O’Connor – in further preserving their place in Club history courtesy of this distinguished accolade, which has also been awarded to Dr John Campbell.
