On loan from Sunderland, Tom joined Cliftonville during the opening week of the Sports Direct Premiership campaign.
Having been part of the Black Cats’ pre-season training camp in Portugal, where he featured in friendlies against Sporting and Sevilla, the full-back embarked upon a year-long switch to Solitude in search of vital exposure to first-team football.
As well as being a regular for Sunderland’s Under-21s, Lavery was named in seven of the Mackems’ matchday squads in the English Championship over the past two seasons having initially joined the Club’s Academy set-up at nine years of age.
