Deepest sympathy

Cliftonville Football Club expresses deep sympathy to the family and friends of Anthony Marley ahead of his funeral service tomorrow morning.

A familiar and friendly face to generations of Reds fans, not only was Anthony a mainstay at Solitude and beyond for many decades, he was also an avid collector of all things Cliftonville and was routinely at the head of the queue when it came to shirt sponsorship, memorabilia fundraisers and charitable auctions.

A passionate supporter who made his home among the Understanders, Anthony provided a valuable service to fellow fans seeking the latest scorelines from elsewhere thanks to the transistor radio that was practically glued to his ear on matchdays – and, as anyone in his nearby vicinity will attest, nobody ever missed a goal update when he was on duty!

Often among the very first through the turnstiles when we were playing at home, all at Cliftonville FC will miss his presence and, in keeping his family and friends in our thoughts, we likewise extend our condolences to the wider Reds support, who we know will be very saddened to hear of Anthony’s loss.

Rest in peace, Anthony. You Red.
