A big Naom departure

Cliftonville Football Club offers thanks and best wishes to Naomi McLaughlin, who has this afternoon completed a transfer to Aberdeen Women.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who joined the Reds from Sion Swifts in January 2024, was part of the Invincibles side that won the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership without dropping a single point in a campaign that also included the Irish Cup and League Cup in an historic trophy treble.

Naomi was among the scorers – and provided three assists – when Cliftonville roared from 2-0 down to defeat Glentoran Women 4-2 in last season’s VBet League Cup Final, before playing a part in the team’s retention of the Irish Cup a few months later.

The Premiership’s Player of the Month in June 2025, Naomi was nominated for the Young Player of the Year honour at October’s NIFL Women’s Football Awards, and leaves Solitude with the gratitude and well wishes of her team-mates, coaching staff and supporters.
