Three rein on national stage

Three young Cliftonville players have been involved in international action at various levels over the course of the last two weeks.

Joe Sheridan (pictured) featured in both of the Republic of Ireland’s Under-19 friendlies with France at the Clairefontaine National Football Centre, emerging from the bench in the second-half of Friday’s 4-1 defeat before starting Monday’s 1-0 reverse – a game that saw his former Reds Academy team-mate Shay Reid also named in Tom Mohan’s line-up.

Conor Barr was, meanwhile, an unused substitute in Northern Ireland’s 1-1 draw with Georgia in last night’s Under-21 European Championship qualifier in Kutaisi, while Cillian Murray was part of the Under-16 squad that recently won the Gary Speed Cup.

Introduced from the bench in an 8-0 victory over Gibraltar, Murray was promoted to the starting XI for the 1-0 win against Japan before being named among the subs for the 2-1 defeat of hosts Wales that ensured Kris Lindsay’s side ended the tournament with a 100% record and the trophy.
