Louise McDaniel celebrated a hat-trick as Cliftonville Ladies scored four unanswered goals against Derry City Women to maintain their eight point lead at the top of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership.

McDaniel also played an integral role in the Reds’ opener at Brandywell Stadium, where her eighth minute cross was turned into her own net by Candystripes defender Shania McMonagle.

It was 2-0 when McDaniel seized on a short backpass to slot past keeper Molly McBride via the base of the post and, on 26 minutes, the same player further extended Cliftonville’s advantage when she finished off after being teed up by Caitlin McGuinness.

McDaniel saved the best for last, completing her treble with a strike from distance with 10 minutes left on the clock as Brendan Lynch’s side enter into the Premiership’s post-split schedule eight points clear at the summit.
