Dre of sunshine
Cliftonville Football Club were very pleased to welcome young Dre Hunte to Solitude this week.
The four-year-old was recently in the news following a harrowing experience that required hospital treatment after being knocked down by an e-scooter in west Belfast.
In the company of his mother Trionagh, uncle Ryan and granny Angela, we were more than happy to help put a smile back on his face by treating him to a kickabout with Joe Gormley and a meeting with fellow Reds legend Marissa Callaghan who, as parents themselves, were keen to play their own role in highlighting the dangers associated with e-scooters.
In addition to Chairman Kevin Crossan providing Dre with a kit and gift pack from the Club, we are also delighted to report that we’ll be seeing him at Solitude again next season as part of Marc Smyth’s 2021 Academy squad.
“As Dre’s mum, I want to say thank you to Kevin for inviting Dre over to the Club after the traumatic experience he suffered,” commented Trionagh.
“Thank you to Marissa and Joe for taking the time to come and see Dre and interact with him, his whole day was made. A day Dre won’t forget! It was such a lovely thing to do. What a Club!”
Have a great summer Dre, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the home of Ireland’s Oldest Football Club very soon.
