Regroup text

Jim Magilton says Cliftonville can’t afford to dwell on a disappointing week as they plot a return to winning ways in tomorrow’s Sports Direct Premiership clash with Glentoran.

The Reds make their third visit to The Oval inside two months on the back of successive defeats to Carrick Rangers, with penalty shootout pain in Tuesday’s County Antrim Shield Final coming hot on the heels of a home reverse in the League last weekend.

“This League asks so many questions of you,” said Magilton.

“It asks so many demands. We have got to regroup and go again.

“We have another difficult one away at Glentoran. We’ve lost out on the first trophy of the season, but we can’t afford to dwell on it.

“I always say that the next challenge in this League is always just round the corner, it can be unforgiving at times but you’ve got to go and face it head on.

“Obviously there’s disappointment from Tuesday night but we now enter into another big game where we’ll obviously be hungry to bounce back and put in a much better performance.

“We’re up against a good team who have done well at home this season. It’s not that long since we last played at The Oval and we remember how tough those back-to-back games were, so we know the size of the challenge and it’s one that we need to step up to.”
