Jack magic
Portadown 2-3 Cliftonville
Jack Keaney was on target again as Cliftonville made it two come-from-behind victories in a week by getting the better of Portadown at Shamrock Park.
The fine margins of an even first-half were laid bare when, just seconds after Ryan Curran had headed against the post at one end, the hosts broke clear and took advantage of hesitant defending when Jordan Gibson netted via the underside of the crossbar.
Having failed to sustain any degree of rhythm in the opening 45 minutes, the Reds dominated the second period from the first whistle and were deservedly level when Joe Sheridan showed neat feet and composure in a crowded penalty area to touch past Aaron McCarey.
Josh Ukek’s use of an arm to block a Sheridan cross then earned a penalty which Ryan Curran stepped up to convert before a towering header from Keaney – who was on target twice in the midweek triumph over Ballymena United – made it 3-1 when he met Rory Hale’s corner delivery.
That goals provided decisive because, with virtually the last touch of the game, substitute Rhys Annett pulled one back for Portadown but there was no to be no denying Cliftonville a fully deserved win.
