Caitlin’s brace card

Lisburn Ladies 0-2 Cliftonville Ladies

Caitlin McGuinness scored twice as Cliftonville Ladies’ perseverance paid off against a stubborn Lisburn Ladies side at Bluebell Stadium this evening.

Following a goalless first-half during which Marissa Callaghan, Naomi McLaughlin – who hit the post – and Vicky Carleton tried their luck, McGuinness made the breakthrough with a composed finish from Abbie Magee’s low cross.

Within minutes, the striker had pounced for her second of the night to put the Reds in firm control of all three Sports Direct Women’s Premiership points.

Callaghan headed over the top and Carleton sent an attempt off target as Cliftonville sought a late third, but McGuinness’ quickfire brace proved enough for the Champions’ victory.
